From the Non Valley to Lana – the beginnings of Linserhof

The history of Linserhof begins about 40 kilometers away, in the idyllic village of Cavareno in the Non Valley. From there, at the end of the 19th century, brothers Gaspare and Luigi Battocletti made their way to the spa town of Merano. At that time, the Non Valley was a poor region with large families, many of whose sons left to find work.

In Merano, the brothers became Kaspar and Alois, learned German, and worked in a carpentry workshop – Alois even serving as foreman for 25 years. In 1882, Alois fulfilled a great dream: he purchased Linserhof in Lana.

From Livestock Farming to Fruit Cultivation

It was only in 1911 that the family moved to the farm, which at that time was primarily focused on livestock and arable farming. In 1923, Alois’ son took over Linserhof and continued livestock farming until 1967. With the changes in agriculture in South Tyrol, the Battocletti family also decided to switch to fruit cultivation – a decision that still shapes the farm today.

When Josef Battocletti took over Linserhof in 1978, the barn and stable were demolished and replaced by a new building with three holiday apartments, which were rented to guests for the first time on May 23, 1980. This marked the beginning of farm holidays at Linserhof in Lana.

A Place of Change and Continuity

In 1984, a new residential building was constructed, which was occupied in May 1985. At the same time, two additional holiday apartments were created in Lana, providing guests with even more space to relax.

Since December 1997, Christian Battocletti has been running the farm in the fourth generation with great passion and love for agriculture. Today, Linserhof combines modern holiday apartments, warm hospitality, and authentic life on a South Tyrolean farm – a place where history is tangible and relaxation feels like home.
